What i've learned so far is that 2 dogs that carries the tri gene(has a tri close ancestor) bred together can produce as tri. I agree with abk that often you see a tri produced when a fawn and blue are bred.

I am no expert but it is all genes........almost all of our dogs have the colors in them its just how they mix up with each other. once the genes have clicked then you can start doubling up on the trait. just like any other desired trait you want to bring out.

as far as mixing a Rotty, those are just mutts!! it would be a very low turn out of any dog mix with a Rotty to turn out these TRI's because once again it is all genetics and how they match up!!

IDK when we bred our Fawn male daz(watchdog/hughzees) to our Blue girl Sky(100%Falin), we use to get alot of brown tiger stripes!

I know it's all in the genes and both dogs being bred has to carry the tri or anyother trait/gene that you wanna produce. Thats for input

i have 3 tris in my yard

by the way tris have been in the breed since back in the day the only thing you didnt see them as much was cause that was not a color desire by the breeders just like blues they would cull them
